You need two different passwords: your Gmail App Password for incoming mail, and your Clynde SMTP password for outgoing mail. They are not interchangeable.
In Mail, choose Mail → Add Account → Other Mail Account. Do not choose Google: its automatic setup locks the outgoing server.
Use your display name, your full Clynde alias as the email, and your Gmail App Password. Select Sign In. A verification warning at this stage is expected.
Choose IMAP. Gmail handles incoming mail; Clynde handles outgoing mail.
Continue past the expected verification warning, leave Mail selected, and finish adding the account.
Open Mail → Settings → Accounts → Server Settings. Keep incoming settings unchanged. Turn off automatic connection management for outgoing mail and enter your Clynde credential.
Send from your Clynde address to another address you own. If Mail asks to reconnect, re-enter the Clynde SMTP password.
Mail now receives through Gmail and sends through Clynde. This setup sends from the one alias you configured.
